One long painting materializes in
New Brunswick and another disappears in East Brunswick and artists are
compelled to paint, to create..to exercise their magic, whatever direction
it may take, and be grateful for the crumbs thrown. To the extent the
community can tolerate their diversions, sometimes the result may last
more than a few days, weeks, months, even a few years. A few months ago a
mural appeared on the back wall of C Town. It was a blast of graffiti
color done with gusto and talent. Very shortly it was obliterated and
unsung, and we have no photograph as it was a short, sweet life. Below,
"Plastique - the Ocean Show" recreated on
the wall fronting the YMHA Swim Club on Dutch Rd. East Brunswick, NJ. This
year they finally did the dirty deed. Two years ago the wall made
front page Home News as the director of the YMHA gave us a call that they
planned to paint over the whole wall in about 3 days time. I asked,
what about the fish bricks? Responce: "What fish bricks?" 250
custom made fish bricks painted by 250 local children framing each 8' X 4'
section of the wall. Our original handshake agreement was that we would
work on the wall until that time the wall was to come down. But the
property changed hands and agreements slip out of mind.
