Flower Power-An Invitation (Click Here!)

The window murals below were created using the photo copying process.
Employees brought in flowers from their gardens. Transparencies were
made in a variety of patterns, using sunflowers, ferns, daisies, roses,
wildflowers, etc. The imagery was then colored with permanent magic marker.

The colorful glass panels were black & white transparencies of flowers and ferns which everyone was invited to color with permanent magic.

Click for larger view Click for larger view  The space viewed here is Old Bridge Public Library. The window area is 100 ft long and 12ft high. 
The first panel consists of 13 flowers 
created by students in Joane Traskiewicz 
class at Joyce Kilmer School, Milltown, NJ.

INSTRUCTIONS: Work to be included must be:

  • Visually compatible

  • translucent

  • floral in feeling!

  • round or oval

  • framed with a slender, wood embroidery hoop or wicker 
    Size..under 36 inches

 

This idea is not confined to photocopied images. That is just a starting point. Other mediums could be torn pastel hued tissue, stained with watercolor pigment; Oil treated papers to enhance translucency! Cellophanes! This can be a simple idea or complex. There is a spectrum of possibilities.
This is a minimal security show at a local library. We will do the best we can to take care of your work for the duration of the show. Mail your piece with a money order or check for $2., enclose a mailing tube or envelope with appropriated postage for us to return it to you. Work from this show will be selected to go to the Cork Gallery, Lincoln Center, N.Y. in January. Enclose a bio about yourself. It will become part of the portfolio about the show and may be used in press coverage.
